London Portrait Photographer- Studio & Environmental
Sam Faulkner- London Portrait Photographer
As a London portrait photographer, I've been fortunate to work on a wide array of projects, capturing the essence of each subject with my camera. My portfolio ranges from photographing distinguished figures like David Attenborough and Jane Goodall, where I aimed to create images that reflect their profound impact on the world, to immersive historical projects like "Unseen Waterloo." This particular project was an exploration into bringing the past to life, aiming to visually narrate the stories of soldiers who fought in the Battle of Waterloo.
My work often takes me beyond the studio and into diverse environments, each with its unique story. For the "Time to See" project, I photographed a schoolboy in Nigeria, bringing attention to the critical issue of avoidable blindness across the Commonwealth. This effort was part of a broader mission to showcase the human impact behind global health initiatives.
The intensity of real-life stories, such as that of a cage fighter fresh from a match or an eagle hunter in the snowy expanses of Kazakhstan, has always drawn me in. Whether it's capturing the quiet dignity of a traffic policeman in Kabul or the vulnerable moments of a young heroin addict on the streets of London, my goal is to present a window into their world.
Other projects have taken me into the heart of communities, like documenting the daily life of a Nicaraguan coffee farm worker, or capturing the powerful story of a freed Dinka slave. Through my lens, I strive to convey the resilience, diversity, and humanity of my subjects.
I approach each project with a simple aim: to tell the story of the person in front of my camera as honestly and compellingly as possible. Photography is not just about capturing faces; it's about connecting with people, understanding their journeys, and sharing their stories with a wider audience.
